• Understand the contribution of Psychology to a multidisciplinary approach of research and intervention in the Sleep Science;
  • Ethical considerations on the work carried out in the Sleep Science field;
  • Understand the changes of sleep structure and organization throughout the life span and its relationship with the physical and psychological changes throughout development;
  • Understand the psychological, environmental and social factors associated to sleep detriment, and its implications for human development and general wellbeing;
  • Discuss how industrialization and culture may affect sleep;
  • Acquire knowledge on the main sleep disorder groups: aetiology, diagnostic criteria and therapeutical approach (pharmacological and non-pharmacological);
  • Acquire knowledge on the different specific evaluation methods (physiological, psychological, cognitive and behavioural);
  • Develop competences in psychological interventions (behavioural, cognitive and emotional), based on multidisciplinary intervention models of preventive, educational and therapeutical nature that aim to improve sleep quality in different contexts (clinical and educational);
  • Develop skills for teamwork towards promoting sleep awareness in the general population and in specific groups (e.g., children, adolescents, shift workers, caregivers, etc.), as well as to develop specific intervention programs established according to different needs.
