The objectives are: to pass on to students the language specific to the social sciences and to initiate them in the different steps of scientific procedure; to lead them to develop a critical and reflective perspective on social reality from a scientific perspective. By the end, students are expected to be able to: formulate a research problem from a social sciences point of view while undertaking an epistemological rupture or break. Understand the importance of theory in the construction of the scientific object, especially the role of both concepts and hypotheses in the construction of conceptual frameworks and theoretical models. Develop competences in researching and collecting sources, namely bibliographic research (using resources such as the On-Line Knowledge Library – B-On). Define the most adequate methodological approach to the object of study under construction. To know how to choose, build and apply the tools of data collection and analysis, according to the research goals, as well as to the other steps in the scientific method. To know how to elaborate and write a final research report.
