In this curricular unit, students will:
- Identify past and current societal challenges for which human environmentally (un)sustainable behaviour can be both a cause and a solution.
- Learn basic concepts in environmental sustainability and their interrelation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
- Learn relevant models, approaches, methods, and techniques from the scientific area of Environmental Psychology, to understand environmentally sustainable behaviour and human causes and effects of the climate crisis.
- Be able to apply Environmental Psychology’s scientific knowledge to understand behaviour and its drivers, in applied areas (e.g., food production and consumption, water & energy use, transportation, extreme weather events, …).
- Identify psychosocial barriers and drivers for environmental social change at individual, group and societal levels.
